Shante Lyons, PhD, teaches American history and African-American studies at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. A graduate of Cardinal Ritter College Prep he earned his doctorate in education at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville where he played football. Two chapters of his doctoral thesis have already been published and three more are awaiting publication. Before joining the faculty at Ladue Shante taught at Cardinal Ritter where he was also assistant football coach and moderator for the Brotherhood. While there he was awarded the Peabody Leader in Education Award and, in 2014, was named Teacher of the Year and awarded $5,000.
