Duane M. Foster
Duane M. Foster, a native St. Louisan and Normandy H.S. alumnus who earned a B.A. in vocal music from Morehouse College where he was a soloist in the college’s renowned Glee Club. After studying at New York and Northwestern Universities he studied dance with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He then went on to a career on Broadway followed by regional theaters across the country. He has had multiple film and national television appearances. In 2005 he changed course and went into teaching, first at Normandy Middle School and then the Senior H.S. where he created the Normandy Dance Academy, became Choral Director and Chair of the Fine Arts Department. For his high school theatrical productions he has received a $16,000 grant from Maritz Corporation. In 2014 he took the Normandy Sr. H.S. Choir to perform at Carnegie Hall. He has received multiple honors and awards (see www.duanemfoster.com/about.html) and is currently persuing a masters degree in Education Administration.
